19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.

He defended four early-game chances in a close final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
